Rob on cover of Premiere Magazine – Cannes Special

via PREMIERE:

Star of Cosmopolis, the new movie by David Cronenberg, in competition at Cannes, RP was a willing participant to a crazy photoshoot that lasted 13 hours! Find out more in the May issue.

In general, when you organize a photoshoot with an actor, whose movies made more than 2.7 billion of dollars all over the world, you except someone cold and shy, someone with a controlled image and with a safeguard. Everything is timed to the last minute, especially if the actor arrives late, everything has to be started over again. I say ‘in general’ because all of this doesn’t apply to Robert Pattinson!

It’s at the end of our interview that the actor comes up with the idea of a photoshoot dedicated to David Cronenberg’s movies. [ToR note: Check out stills for Cronenberg's movies The Dead Ringers, Videodrome and Scanners to compare.] Like a homage to his respect for the filmmaker, who by casting him in Cosmopolis, offered him not only a passport for after Twilight but aslo the opportunity to come and celebrate his entry to the adult age, on the steps of Cannes on May 25th.

To say that he got involved n the making of the photoshoot is an euphemism. The first images of Scanners and Videdrome we prepared for him as an inspiration for the future snapshots came back to us with an unexpected commentary: Rob was sorry that they weren’t more daring, wanting to push all the limits with this shoot – the complete opposite of what someone in his position would have asked Two days later, the photograph Eliot Lee Hazel and his crew – sort of strange for this kind of shoot (a special effect makeup artist, a pregnant lady …) – met in a glummy hotel in downtown L.A. to give the go-ahead of this shoot that lasted for exactly 13 hours.

After seeing the results of this shoot, we’re ready to bet that you won’t look at Robert Pattinson the same way again. That the last pretense who might still weigh on the actor will fly away as fast as they appeared.

More of Rob at amFAR

Lainey Gossip's Robsessed friend, Laura retells her sorta encounter with Rob at the amFAR event.:

Imagine, if you will, Lainey, our friend Mio and myself sitting on the terrace at the Hotel Du Cap. It's three o'clock in the morning and after a fabulous dinner and some drinks, my eyes are shutting periodically and I'm calculating just how long it would take a taxi to bring us back to our apartment in Cannes. But just as I'm debating the best way to bring up the subject of leaving, I hear Lainey whispering my name furiously. When I look up she mouths "Laura, it's Rob."

Yes. That's right. Robert Pattinson.

I look up to see him walking in, in his fitted tux, no tie, a couple of buttons on his shirt undone, looking absolutely delicious. He's walking like he's on a runway, a far cry from his usual "please don't look at me" gait with slumped shoulders and a ducked head. Methinks that every once in a while, Mr. Pattinson enjoys kicking the wardrobe up a notch - and I'm not complaining.

I should probably explain that I'm a fan. A very enthusiastic RPattz fan. While Lainey swears that outwardly I remained cool, I felt my heart rate triple at that moment. And suddenly I was wide awake. He took a seat at a table opposite us, giving me a close and unrestricted view of him and, to quote Lainey, sending my loins into quiveration mode.

The boy is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. He chain smokes like crazy, and while I generally find that a disgusting habit, he looks ridiculously sexy doing it. In fact, he looked picture perfect every single time I glanced over at him. He was chatting animatedly with his manager and his agent, laughing and smiling, looking like a guy who was loving his life.

Eventually, Emile Hirsch walked in with his girlfriend and another good looking girl. They greeted Rob and he - get this - looked shy and stared down alternately at the table or at his management team. It was pretty cute actually. What I didn't find cute was the way Emile greeted Rob - it was a condescending "heyyyyy buddyyyyyyy" and then he proceeded to poach one of Rob's smokes. It was interesting to observe the difference between these two young actors. Emile walked in muttering something about kicking someone's ass and then loudly gave his pointed opinions on various topics. Rob conversed with him but wasn't nearly as biting or cocky. I'm not saying he doesn't have an edge - I overheard him make some sarcastic remarks and he does love dropping the F-bomb (with that British accent - HOT!) , but overall, he comes across as a much nicer guy.

LG has more Rob photos.

Rob gets auctioned off...for charity

Rob attended the annual Cinema Against AIDS gala in Cannes. The event is hosted by Sharon Stone, with Bill Clinton attending and Annie Lennox will be performing.

Also, at the event, he was auctioned off, with proceeds going to charity. The bidders, two of them, both paid $20,000 for a chance to meet, greet, and win a kiss from Rob.

Wooh! Might as well just marry the guy, eh...
